The Non-Academic Staff Union Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Ogun State was established by the executives of NASU (Schools ans Colleges Branch) Ogun State under the able leadership of visionary Chairman Comrade. C. O. Adeniyi on February 2002.
At inception, the union executive appointed a three-man committee to take charge of the co-operative activities and report back to the union executives in black and white on monthly basis. The three-man committe consists of the following people:
- Comrade Olu-Akiode - Acting President
- Comrade Osunjimi Sanmi P. - Acting Secretary
- Comrade Olugbade Solomon F. - Acting Treasurer
NASU Co-operative society took-off in 2002 with less than 40 membership spread the public secondary schools in the state with different contribution ranging from 200 to 500 Naira and since then, membership has always been on the increase.
The primary aim and objective of the Co-operative is to enhance the purchasing power of members and to have access to funds as at when due for the payment of tuition fee for those who want to upgrade themselves academically.
The 1st Annual General Meeting of the NASU Co-operative Society Abeokuta came up in may, 2004 at St. John Anglican High School, Kuto, Abeokuta with over 100 members after three years of co-operative activities; this was due to a strong membership drive and also to have a solid capital base for the society.
The Co-operative Society was registered with the Ministry of Community and Cooperative Services as NON-ACADEMIC STAFF UNION (SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES) MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY, ABEOKUTA on 21st February, 2005 with the registration number 5500 and also joined the Ogun State Salary Earners as the mother union.
With the increase in membership to over 800 across the 20 (twenty) Local Government Areas of the state and the enormous challenges faced by the management of the cooperative to satisfy the yawning of members in other to enjoy the full benefit of the society and to remove the administrative bottleneck caused by the distance of some members to Abeokuta, the co-operative management, under a dynamic President in person of Comrade Osunjimi Sanmi P. in 2001 decentralized the administration of the society by establishing other 9 new NASU Co-operative societies across various LGAs of Ogun State out of which seven has been registered.

After the establishment of the above 9 (nine) cooperative societies, the management of NASU cooperative at the central, took another bold step to establish NASU COOPERATIVE UNION. This started as a proposed union in 2012 and the 1st Annual General Meeting of the Cooperative Union was held on 11th November, 2014.
